What is MacuMira?
MacuMira is an advanced, non-invasive therapy designed for individuals living with dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD). It offers a modern approach to supporting central vision without the need for injections, surgery, lasers, or prescription medications.
Dry AMD affects the macula, the part of the eye responsible for sharp, detailed vision. Over time, it can reduce the ability to read, recognize faces, and perform everyday visual tasks. With limited traditional treatment options available, MacuMira represents a significant step forward by offering a safe and science-based method to help maintain and support visual function.
Who should book: Individuals diagnosed with dry age-related macular degeneration who want to explore non-invasive options to support their vision.
How MacuMira works
MacuMira delivers carefully controlled microcurrents through a small headset placed over the eyes. These low-level electrical signals are designed to activate retinal cells and support their metabolic activity.
Patients remain seated comfortably with their eyes closed throughout the session. The experience is generally relaxing, and the current levels remain well below anything that could cause discomfort. There is no invasive component, no recovery period, and patients can return to normal routines right away.
Research has shown that some individuals may experience improvements in visual performance within days of beginning the initial series of treatments.
MacuMira treatment at our clinic
Before beginning therapy, we complete a full retinal assessment to determine if this treatment is suitable for you. A typical appointment lasts just over half an hour. You will sit comfortably while the headset is positioned over your eyes, and our team will guide you through each step.
Once the initial series of treatments is completed, we may recommend periodic maintenance sessions to help preserve results. We review your progress, answer any questions, and ensure that your care plan aligns with your goals and lifestyle.
